Historic FlagsPages 1 2 3 Star Spangled Banners The Star Spangled Banner is not only the subject of our National Anthem, but a symbol of American resolve to remain a free and sovereign nation. The flag was commissioned by Major George Armistead, the commander of Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor as preparation for an impending British attack. The commission went to Mary Young Pickersgill who, with the help of her daughter, Caroline, completed the huge, 30' by 42' flag. The British finally attacked Fort McHenry on September 13, 1814, firing as many as 1800 high trajectory shells at the fort throughout that day and night. The British failed in their attempt leaving the United States of America a free nation. Our Nyl-Glo flags and Bulldog Cotton flags are among the best money can buy.

Bennington Flags The original Bennington Flag is unique in that it is still in existence today at the Bennington Museum in Vermont. Tradition holds that the flag was present at the Battle of Bennington, however, it is more likely that the flag was the creation of Nathaniel Fillmore, who presented the flag to his nephew, Septa Fillmore during the War of 1812. Being a veteran of the American Revolution, the addition of the "76" in the canton would be viewed as a patriotic reminder of our previous struggle against the British. This flag is of top quality and suitable for residential or commercial use, indoors or out.
